Our Summer

I realize that it has been a long since I have posted. We've been busy having a fun summer! But Todd has been nagging me to post updates. So for the next little while I will be posting pictures of our outings this summer.

The day after Sadie's dance recital we had her hair cut. I love it short! She looks so grown up. However she didn't share my love for the haircut. It took her a few days to get used to it. She would come up to me crying saying, "But mom what if I want my hair in a ponytail like Allie's?"

Sadie's First Ballet Recital

Today was Sadie's first recital. It brought quite a mixture of emotions. Sadie was so excited to wear makeup. She looked way to grown up! She was so sad to have to wash it off. Her teacher said she is extremely talented and she should continue her ballet career.

Sick kid

Jace is one sick kid...but at the moment you wouldn't be able to tell (except for the snot on his face!)

Repurpose

Allie is pretty hard on clothes and these pair of pants have been worn by both girls so it's no surprise that they got a hole. But they were Allie's favorite pair to wear so I couln't just throw them away. Here is my fix...

She's one happy girl! Her favorite jeans made into a skirt with a ruffle...what more could a girl want?

Hard Day

The girls and I had a fun day of playing in our little pool with friends. Afterward, we came in and all fell asleep on the couch. Lucky for me, Todd caught the moment on camera. He doesn't think of taking pictures when I look cute....just when I'm sleeping with my mouth open. At least I wasn't drooling, which is more than I can say for Allie.

Easter

We went camping this weekend with some friends to celebrate Easter. We drove about 2.5 hours to Ricketts Glenn State Park.

This was Jace the entire evening. He broke out in a crazy rash all over his head and luckily Lauren brought Benedryl so we drugged him up and he crashed the rest of the night. I froze all night and so did Allie. She climbed into bed with us thinking I could keep her warm. Todd didn't appreciate being shoved up against the edge of the tent from Allie and I trying to get close to him for warmth.

The next morning, we were in charge of breakfast. We made strawberry and cream stuffed french toast and Mountain Man Dutch Oven breakfast. It was fabulous!

I bet you didn't know that the Easter Bunny delivers to campsites!

We even had our own easter egg hunt

After lunch we packed everything up and went on a hike. Even though there were warning signs describing the hike as "trecherous" we all decided to go and see the waterfalls, which were all along this 4 mile hike. I forgot to bring our baby backpack so I fashioned my own sling out of my sweater and carried Jace halfway and then switched with Todd the 2nd half. But I ended up carrying Allie the last mile or 2. Sadie was a champion hiker and did the entire hike by herself!
