Lies

A couple of weeks ago Sadie and I had a discussion about commandments and that lying is a commandment. I had told her that we have to repent if we break commandments. Yesterday I asked Sadie to pick up a few of her toys. Within a few seconds she was back in the room and I asked her if she had put everything in the correct place, which she assured me she had. Later I was in the bathroom and found all the toys stuffed behind our pedestal sink so I sent her to her bedroom. After a few minutes she came downstairs and I asked her what she needed to do to fix her mistake (expecting her to apologize to me for lying to me). She answered, "Mom, I already said a prayer to Heavenly Father and told him sorry for breaking his commandments!" (With an attitude that said Duh mom! Don't treat me like a child!)

LOL, I love that little girl.

A few months ago, Hailey's primary class had a lesson where the teacher asked "Why should we do...(can't remember what)? Hailey answered "So we don't have a big black monster."

She was referring to the FHE lesson on Lying with the big black hairy octopus monster.

The teacher came and asked us about our stratedgy of scaring our children into obeying the commandments. It was too funny.

I love it! Evan has taken to hiding the box of eye patches so he doesn't have to wear one. I found it in the back of the drawer on Tuesday (they were probably there for a while-I have to keep them on the counter so I see them and remember to put one on every morning), and behind the bathroom garbage can yesterday. I guess I was lucky he didn't go so far as to actually throw them away. We had to have the talk about lying, too, because he flat out lied to me the 2nd day. I thought they were too young to be that deceptive.
